ABOUT THE GREAT BUSTARD

The 19th-century inn in the village of Great Durnford has been revived and reinvigorated. Once again the cornerstone of the community, this is its new chapter as The Great Bustard

The Great Bustard, Restaurant, Pub and Inn

DETAILS

A pub where locals gather for a pint, a restaurant with an inventive seasonal menu “local where possible but always the best of the best”, an organic farm shop, an ambitious country escape with smart rooms to bed down in and considered spa treatments, surrounded by the River Avon and the patchwork fields of the Woodford Valley. We look forward to welcoming you here to eat, drink, sleep, retreat.

OUR ROOMS

The Great Bustard has 10 beautifully considered bedrooms, two above the pub and a further eight across the courtyard in the elegant outbuildings. Named after indigenous British birds, the rooms have been designed as sophisticated but pared-back retreats. Thick linen and wool curtains frame the windows, sisal rugs top the oak floors. There are super king beds in every room and bathrooms stocked with organic Durnford soaps, shampoos and conditioners with notes of home-grown rosemary and lemon verbena. Breakfast is included, with everything from green smoothies and fruit-topped chia seed pudding to scrambled eggs and crumpets. There are two dog-friendly rooms and one accessible bedroom with wheelchair access. The Great Bustard is made up of three buildings: Great Bustard 1, which houses the pub, the restaurant, the private dining room, the treatment room, and rooms Red Kite and Stone-Curley Great Bustard 2, which houses rooms Firecrest, Capercaillie, Peregrine Falcon, Avocet, Ouzel and Cuckoo Great Bustard 3, which houses rooms Nightingale and White Tailed Eagle
